I have spent the majority of my adult life working with the financial industry, which is now undergoing a significant process of change and adjustment – almost everywhere in the world. Business models and strategies are being radically overhauled in the face of persistently low interest rates, limited investor appetite for high-risk assets, and draconian regulatory policing at both national and international level.  The current challenges faced by the financial sector make my work more important than ever before.

What do I do?  I ensure that my financial clients publish the best possible written material both in good times and in bad. Be it a client letter, annual report, media release, equity research note, annual performance review, structured product flash, or summary of Basel III requirements – the quality of language a financial institution uses will immediately be picked up on by its clients, prospective clients, the media, and investors.

My USP? As well as being a linguistic scholar, I am also a former banker with experience in a wide range of areas. And I deploy my knowledge of language and finance in three closely-related fields – translation, editing and training.
