I also work as an English language editor and proofreader, casting a critical eye on documentation not just from a linguistic perspective but also – when my clients require it – from a content perspective.  My expertise derives not just from my time at an investment bank, but also from my status as a “consumer” of financial products and research notes.

I expect to understand what I am reading straight away, and find it an unfortunate reality that those who author complex material often fail to make it intelligible to the layman. Delivering that simplicity while at the same time retaining whatever linguistic register is required – dry, formal, sympathetic, persuasive, engaging – requires a specialist in language as well as finance.
